FRAN MERIDA is set to pen a new contract at Arsenal
SunSport revealed yesterday that the Spaniard, 19, wanted to thrash out a two-year deal.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger admits he wants the player, who is out of contract next summer, to stay for longer.
Wenger said: "Fran has agreed but has not signed yet.
"It's massive for us. He's ready to be a regular now."

Carlo Ancelotti insists the Barclays Premier League title race is not a two-horse race between Chelsea and Manchester United and cites Arsenal as a real threat to his chances of winning the championship in his first season as boss at Stamford Bridge.

'Arsenal have good possibilities to arrive in first place. We can't think about Liverpool at this moment because they are behind, but Arsenal have a very good team and a very good chance to win.'
Didier Drogba will provide Chelsea with their most potent threat but Ancelotti has called on other members of the team to take the pressure of the Ivory Coast frontman and step up and score goals.

AZ Alkmaar boss Ronald Koeman rates Arsenal as a Champions League contender this season.
Arsenal thumped the Dutch 4-1 at Emirates stadium last night.
"They have a lot of qualities but it's very young and maybe they miss a little bit of experience that other teams like Chelsea and Barca have," Koeman said.
"One bad day and you can lose against everybody. It's not one team better than the rest - it's very close. But Arsenal can go a long way in this competition."
