五十多年前，音樂史上曾發生過一宗著名的「國際音樂奇案」：人們因聽這首樂曲而自殺的事件接連不斷地發生。

當樂隊剛剛演奏完法國作曲家魯蘭斯．查理斯創作的《黑色的星期天》這首管弦樂曲時，

The original song was written in 1933 by two Hungarians, Rezso Seress (music) tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb3 A( ~) T; h2 J6 a, {) s: q( r
and Laszlo Javor (lyrics), and consisted of the first two stanza
only -- the last stanza was added later, also first in Hungarian, + f, Z& O2 X6 L& D0 E' e6 c8 m

Zoe added:
Actually, the second part of the song in Hungarian is not so reassuring at all. ! X2 r" _' }  p, L) P$ u. S/ @
It is if at all possible, much gloomier than the first two stanzas, almost apocalyptic. ) C* W3 ~4 c4 P% y
It looks like the pessimism of the song was too much for the translators and they made their translation a happier one. . ?7 z$ D5 P7 g1 w. ^+ h
In that case one might argue that the translator has done a bad job
and 'ruined' the song, or in other words: a translator has to maintain the original spirit tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb1 d4 V; z  ]/ T8 u$ v- ^
and intentions of the song. On the other hand, tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb# x7 L3 ?6 ~1 X& T1 t9 O' E& y
a translator may also be more than just a translator and based on the original create a new song.
Perhaps the Sam Lewis mentioned in the credits is responsible for this.

Zoe Orosz also made a translation into English of the original Hungarian song, adding:
It looks like Javor wrote the first part and Seress the second. It is very-very gloomy. 公仔箱論壇. i3 a8 \5 E( x( Z5 K1 w/ s
It seems to refer to the horrors of a war at the end.

One thing is very strange, though. The mood changes between the second and the third stanza,
because she wakes up and realises that the gloomy first two stanzas were nothing but a dream and the third stanza is then more chearful.

the pause is less than a second -- Sarah has barely enough time to catch her breath.
I would have expected the change in mood between stanzas two and three to be build up a little more gradually,
