UK automaker Caterham joined with RS Performance earlier this yearto create a special performance model of the Seven roadster. The firstexample of this partnership -- the Caterham RS Levante -- is officiallygoing into production, with only eight cars to be built. Don't get yourhopes up, though. All eight have already been sold for £115,000 a piece.
The powerplant for the RS Levante is a custom-built 40-valve,2.4-liter, supercharged V-8 which produces a staggering 500 horsepower.Weighing in at only 1150 pounds due to its carbon fiber, Kevlar, andaluminum body, this special Caterham has a power-to-weight ratio doublethat of the Bugatti Veyron. The RS Levante is said to hit 60 miles perhour in under three seconds. Caterham requires that all eight of theowners enlist in a two-day advanced driving school when they takedelivery. |
