巨人其實是真實存在過的，這一點西方文化中最重要最神聖的典籍《聖經》中就有記載。

《舊約聖經》中《撒母耳記上》曾記載過大衛殺死一個名叫歌利亞 (Goliath)的巨人，他的身高是六肘零一虎口(six cubits and a span)。《聖經》中肘的算法有幾種，最短的一種是一尺半為一肘，六肘便等於九尺。六肘零一虎口高，歌利亞至少有三米多高了！但這卻不是《聖經》中關於巨人唯一的記載。os.tvboxnow.com" O& `/ T0 D1 ]9 b0 H" x) B
《舊約聖經》中的《創世紀》中記載在大洪水之前「有巨人在地上」(There were giants in the earth in those days)。5 e  O3 q2 t% ^- X5 V
同樣是《舊約聖經》中的《民數記》則記載摩西帶猶太人出埃及之後，曾派人到迦南地探路，瞭解當地的情況。探子們回報說：tvb now,tvbnow,bttvb: S* P# g4 s/ y- E- x
