& q; N/ m" ~4 H6 J, X! oos.tvboxnow.com《舊約聖經》中《撒母耳記上》曾記載過大衛殺死一個名叫歌利亞 (Goliath)的巨人，他的身高是六肘零一虎口(six cubits and a span)。《聖經》中肘的算法有幾種，最短的一種是一尺半為一肘，六肘便等於九尺。六肘零一虎口高，歌利亞至少有三米多高了！但這卻不是《聖經》中關於巨人唯一的記載。8 y8 H+ R6 y& S% I- a  r; K2 D2 p/ v
《舊約聖經》中的《創世紀》中記載在大洪水之前「有巨人在地上」(There were giants in the earth in those days)。os.tvboxnow.com1 d5 H4 F, j; M7 Z, j
同樣是《舊約聖經》中的《民數記》則記載摩西帶猶太人出埃及之後，曾派人到迦南地探路，瞭解當地的情況。探子們回報說：

「我們所窺探，經過之地是吞吃居民之地，我們在那裡所看見的人民都身量高大」(The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size)。
