Wenger doesn't expect Ade exit
Arsene Wenger has no intention of meeting Emmanuel Adebayor to discuss the striker’s future and remains confident that his top scorer will be at Arsenal next season.
Adebayor has cast doubt over his future at Emirates Stadium by admitting that he could move on this summer, with both Milan and Barcelona declaring an interest in a player who scored 30 goals for The Gunners last season.
The Togo international has also stated he wants to sit down and talk with Wenger before making a decision over his future as reports claim he is asking for a monumental pay rise.
Wenger is unmoved by the latest bout of speculation and Adebayor’s public sentiments though, and appears unwilling to bow to the striker’s wish for a face-to-face meeting.
"He's under contract and that's quite simple,” said Wenger.
“I can tell you as manager of Arsenal FC I'm not worried.
"Of course I expect him to be at Arsenal next season - he's under contract."
When asked if he would meet Adebayor as requested, the Frenchman replied: "No - I've already met him." |
