Yossi Benayoun would no doubt love to emulate Luis Garcia's feat of scoring in a Champions League semi-final - but insists comparisons between the duo are way off the mark.
The Israel international was seen as the ideal replacement for the diminutive Spaniard when Lil Luis opted for a return to his homeland last summer.
But the former West Ham playmaker, who has already scored 10 goals in his first season with the Reds, believes it would be wrong to earmark him as the 'new' Garcia and insists he has already gone some way to proving he is his own man.
"I know that Luis is a very good player who also scored a lot of important goals for Liverpool," Benayoun told LFC Magazine.
"He did very well for the club but I am a different player.
"I am lucky that I have also scored quite a few goals this season but I wouldn't like to say that I have come in to replace Luis and the job that he did for Liverpool.
"I just try to do my best. I am not in a competition to try and score more goals than Luis or anyone else.
"I just try to think about my own game and do what is best for the team."
季初見到佢真係成日諗起KING LUIS,尤其係佢係門前補中既果下觸覺......
希望佢繼續努力,我相信佢可以有更好既表現 |
