Inter To Dump Vieira For Diaby?
The relationship between Inter Coach Roberto Mancini and midfielder Patrick Vieira has never been the best, however things hit an all-time low at the weekend during the game with Sampdoria.
The Frenchman reacted angrily to being substituted late in the game, refusing to shake Mancini's hand as he walked off the pitch, before petulantly kicking a cluster of water bottles.
While publicly Mancini has insisted that there is no problem between him and Vieira following the incident, the speculation is that privately this is not the case.
Vieira has barely featured for the Nerazzurri since signing for the club from Juventus in 2006, and this is not the first time that he has misbehaved.
Earlier this season he ignored club orders in order to play for France, where he then picked up an injury which kept him sidelined for an extended period of time.
Furthermore when Vieira has played he has been hugely disappointing, most notably in his last two matches against Liverpool and Sampdoria.
Inter are now considering selling the player in the summer, and replacing him with Arsenal youngster Abou Diaby.
The 22-year-old is a similar mould of player to Vieira, and is valued at €10m. His versatility is said to attract Mancini, however he also has a reputation for being very injury-prone, having missed large chunks of both last season, and this one. |
