I totally agreed with ADTVB about the differences n how it varied from country to country n area from area even all of us
are speaking Cantonese.
For example a Malaysian will say 下水 n Chinese from HK n Kwangchow will say 下雨
Malaysians, however u speak it they understand but for HK n China they wld be puzzled.
And a very common item that we wld request in a restaurant. Malaysians they would asked
for 水草 n if the waiter is from HK or China he wld only understand if u say 吸管
An everyday word often used is 关火, n our HK n China counterparts wld say 关灯
Often Malaysians n Singaporeans, however, u speak it they understand, meaning we
understand both proper n slang cantonese. But, Hk n China they cannot understand
the SEA slang in our country. |
