HSV snub Real Madrid offer
HSV have turned down an offer made by the Spanish giants Real Madrid for skipper Rafael van der Vaart. Madrid wanted to buy the Dutch playmaker right away: “The offer was absolutely ridiculous, so we turned it down flat”, revealed the HSV sport director Didi Beiersdorfer. The Madrid club told HSV per fax that their interest in van der Vaart is now ended. The HSV skipper has been the subject of intense media speculation since the end of last season. As he arrived back in Hamburg from his summer holidays recently, he said he presumed he would still be a HSV player next season.
