《舊約聖經》中的《創世紀》中記載在大洪水之前「有巨人在地上」(There were giants in the earth in those days)。# D- G' C. @7 b4 {; N( n) l1 X- W
同樣是《舊約聖經》中的《民數記》則記載摩西帶猶太人出埃及之後，曾派人到迦南地探路，瞭解當地的情況。探子們回報說：
