Gerrard, Alonso and Mascherano
With 4-4-2, we normally see
Option 1 - 2 wingers + Gerrard + Alonso
Option 2 - 2 wingers + Gerrard + Mascherano.
I personally think option 2 is better because Msacherano is a very good offensive midfielder and Gerrard can be an attacking midfielder. I can see Gerrard have more chance to score outside the box.
However I have found when manager use option 1, Gerrard is more like offensive midfielder and drop quite deep. Alonso will be playing attacking midfielder (should say more like a playmakers) and also trying to score outside the box. Sounds we wasted Gerrard talent.
With 4-5-1, I would expect to see 2 wingers + Gerrard + Mascherano + Alonso, this should be better for Gerrard (if he was not asked to play too deep) however then we only play lone striker.
So my question is if you were the manager how do you arrange all these 3 top players in the team.
I personally think Gerrard + Alonso = Gerrard + Lampard, just too hard to keep both "good playing" in the team.
*PS. I remember last season Alonso + Sissoko and Gerrard played as right winger, what a "greate" idea !!!!
