As Thierry Henry gets closer to a return with Arsenal, it would be interesting to look atsome reasons as to why Arsenal should sign him.

Henry left the club at a time when success started to be hard to come by. The talent that Arsenal had in the various squads since then has always been good, but not enough to win silverware. At this point in the season, only two teams seem to be really inthe title race. Arsenal may still be in with a chance, but it is a very remote one. The FA Cup and Champions League also remain options, but both competitions are of the knockout variety and present even more intriguing challenges. This Arsenal squad has a new look about it, and it would be interesting to see how Henry fits in. Here are some reasons why Arsenal should sign him.

1) Experience

Thierry Henry has won just about every international and club-related award possible during his career. He was once a captain for Arsenal and is currently a captain for the New York Red Bulls. Arsene Wenger brought in a lot of experienced players during the summer window, and one more addition would certainly help. Henry has experience with the Premier League and Arsenal's style of play. He would not need any time to adjust and could possibly be thrust right into the thick of things. Whatever roles he plays, both on and off the pitch, will most likely be a positive for the team.

2) Depth at the Forward Line
We all know about Thierry Henry's goal-scoring abilities. He may not be leading the line for the Gunners like old times, but he would provide a solid, experienced back-up. Marouane Chamakh and Gervinho are out on African Cup of Nations duty, and Chamakh may end up being sold. Henry would provide Arsene Wenger with another option and one that he is very familiar with. Whether he plays a lot during the absence of the two Africans remains to be seen, but he would be there in any case.

3) For the fans
Could this be asigning that relieves Arsenal fans of some fear in the team's striking options? Maybe. It is really exciting, but the real question is just how well will Henry do this time around. This signing would still be more positive than negative for the fans even if it's just for the nostalgia of it all. If Arsene Wenger decides this will be his only transfer window move, then it really relies on Henry's ability to produce. Still, it may do the fans a lot of good to hear this signing is official, and all will wait in anticipation for the first time he touches the pitch.

4) Henry's Passion for Arsenal
Thierry Henry loves Arsenal. That much was evident in his reaction to his statue. If he does go, he will do everything in his power to see that the team succeeds while he is an official member of the team. Whether he is playing or not, everything Henry does he will try to do for the benefit of the team. He will surely know that he is not the main man anymore, but he is experienced enough to be able to help lead the team on when necessary.

5) Talent
Thierry Henry's talentis still obvious in his MLS play. Some of his attributes may have changed overtime, but his mind is still very much as it was. At Arsenal, Henry will be playing with better players—no offense to his Red Bull teammates—and that might make things easier for him. In turn, Henry could make things easier for his teammates. He has been training with them, and he knows a good amount about two of the players he will mostly link with—Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott. Henry will rely mainly on his playmaking skills rather than his pace, but he could still have a great effect.
