蘋果周二（11/12）悄悄透過線上商店銷售第二代iPad mini，既無大張旗鼓，也不是在蘋果例行性推出新款iPhone或iPad的周五，而只是默默地將產品上線，使得外界紛紛猜測是新一代採用Retina螢幕的iPad mini供貨不足所致。

第二代的iPad mini配備7.9吋的Retina螢幕，使它的解析度從1024x768升級到2048x1536，而且搭載最新的64位元A7處理器，其他規格則與第一代iPad mini相當，尺寸與重量只有微幅變更，最低階版本的訂價為399美元，比第一代同樣是16GB的版本貴了70美元。在第二代iPad mini上市後，第一代產品的售價也調降了30美元。

紐約時報則報導，蘋果是在媒體發現蘋果網站已開放訂購iPad mini後才發出新聞稿。蘋果全球行銷副總裁Philip Schiller表示，iPad Air的市場反應一直很熱烈，很高興讓客戶能夠體驗採用Retina螢幕的新一代iPad mini，客戶將會喜愛這兩款輕薄且強大的新款iPad，蘋果會努力打造更多的iPad。

美國商業周刊引述面板分析機構IHS經理Rhoda Alexander的說法指出，蘋果遭遇面板生產不及的問題，因此沒有足夠的產能來支撐全面的推出。

蘋果並未於實體商店展售新款的iPad mini，消費者現在只能透過蘋果線上商店訂購第二代iPad mini，然後到蘋果零售商店取貨。目前美國蘋果線上商店在16GB與32GB顯示的出貨日期為1～3天，64GB與128GB的出貨日期為5～10天，而首波銷售iPad mini的市場除了美國外，還包括中國、新加坡、香港、紐西蘭、日本與澳洲。中國的蘋果線上商店也已開賣第二代iPad mini，最低階的售價為2888元人民幣。

This should be release a year ago, but better late than never.  However the price is a bit too much for anything bigger than 16GB, and with the size of apps nowadays 16GB is just not enough especially when you get a better resolution camera in which you will take a few more shots and maybe even a few flicks.  Unless the price can be lowered a bit the Android Tablets will still chip away Apple's share.
