The owner of this Ferrari 458 Italia was in for a nasty surprise when his 570-horsepower Italian supercar started sending smoke signals from the engine compartment while he was driving on the streets of Paris. The cause of the fire remains a mystery but you can see the results in the photo gallery that was posted by a member of the Autogespot forums after the break.

Ferrari recalled all 458 Italian a week or two ago, apparently the cause of the spontaneous fires is due to the adhesive used on the rear wheelarch, the proximity to the exhaust system would lead to the adhesive self-igniting especially after an extended period of high-rpm driving in high ambient temperature.

Oops.

Still wouldn't buy one even if I could afford it though - no proper manual gearbox option (even though it's slower).

what a site, bet he would be really unhappy having to walk home, agree wouldn't get one not practical at all.
