Premier League - Tottenham clinch Pavlyuchenko deal
Tottenham have confirmed they have reached agreement to sign Russian striker Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow for a reported fee of £15m.
Pavlyuchenko, 26, arrived in England on Friday as the deal moved nearer to completion, but he will not be present as Spurs take on Chelsea on Sunday. He will instead link up with Russia for their opening World Cup qualifiers.
Meanwhile, the president of Real Zaragoza, Agapito Iglesias, is reported to be in London to discuss the possible transfer of Diego Milito and Sergio Garcia from the Spanish club to Spurs.
The arrival of Pavlyuchenko and the possible signing of Milito and Garcia has surely opened the door for Dimitar Berbatov to complete his long-protracted move to Manchester United.
One man who won't be leaving White Hart Lane is Ivory Coast international midfielder Didier Zokora who has signed a new contract with Tottenham which commits him to the club until 2012.
Zokora joined Spurs for £8.2million in July 2006 from St Etienne following some fine displays at the World Cup.
The 27-year-old midfielder has made 93 appearances for the first team, including starting both of Juande Ramos' sides Premier League defeats this season |
