關於失蹤至今已逾半個月的馬航MH370客機，馬來西亞總理納吉前天宣布，飛機已墜毀在南印度洋，而且沒有人生還；而馬來西亞代理交通部長希沙姆丁昨日就提供較詳細的解釋，指是根據失蹤客機向衞星發送的信號之頻率變化，經分析後，「推論」馬航客機已經墜毀，而馬航方面，就呼籲家屬接受客機已毀這現實。

事實上，當馬航MH370客機失去聯絡後，多國即時在馬來西亞一帶海域作出搜索，隨著後來有證據顯示，飛機起飛後曾經掉頭，搜索範圍擴大到馬六甲海峽去，以至後來再轉移至印度洋。而背後提供有關搜索方向及證據的，就有英國空難調查處及國際海事衞星公司（Inmarsat），兩者透過「從未使用過的分析方法」，估算出飛機的飛行路線。# m0 m4 G  |2 ~: B4 r: n& @& f

專門在偏遠地區或有沒有可靠的地面網路通訊範圍的Inmarsat，客戶包括政府、援助機構、媒體及企業，當然也包括航空公司。其位於印度洋上空的I-4低軌通訊衛星，在客機失蹤後，就接收了由客機發出共多次的脈衝訊號，提出要跟通訊衛星「連接」，但由於馬航未有「幫襯」服務，故連接被拒，但就提供了飛機行蹤的僅有線索。技術人員同時發現，有關訊號的頻率，疑因多普勒效應而出現微小變化，於是展開分析計算，最終「推算」出飛機的大概位置。
