These are some recent snap shorts of Brisbane. Spring Hills is part of the Brisbane CBD (central bussiness district) located at the north side of Bristane. Brisbane is the third largest city in Australia, there is a good Asian migrant community who choose to live here. Its the third largest city in Australia, next to Melbourn and a lot quieter when comparing to Sydney.$ d* u# C8 x- _9 d- t3 J. a W

Ah, there is a story to this: Yes, there used to be a lot people defacing the city walls and open space with ugly or even rude graffiti, so the local council engaged some of those who could do a good painting and called them street artists, they spray paint on these public space with some tasteful paintings, some of them are quite good. I think among the graffiters, they have some mutual respect to each others work, if the painting is good, others would leave it alone. So now even some private owner engage the graffiti painter to paint on their garage door so it won't get tagged with ugly signs.
I suppose it is one way of solving the problem. A win win situation.

Firstly, I do not condone defacing public properties.  I am glad that when I visited HK, I didn't see much of it.
Now to answer you comment:  w& c& F0 U/ O" S8 ]& K9 ?  v/ A
Yes, the graffiti painters who were engaged by the local council or private owners do get paid a small amount of money to do the work.
and No, they are not an organised gang, most of them are teenagers who are bored, some with better artistic skill than others, and most of them do grow out of it.  For the ones who are engaged to do the painting, its more for their personal pride than the monetary gain.- G2 `( I1 S. K* ]9 j  ]2 ^( O

There are still a lot of tagging on old building walls and bus shelters though, it does cost the tax payer a lot money to have them cleaned.  By the way, those who are caught doing graffiti, they are usually charged and ordered to do the cleaning up themselves.

Brisbane - a big country town, however it has grown rapidly and now has a big city style all of its own.

Oops, there is an update to one of the photos, this is not a kangaroo sculpture at all, but it did look like a traveling kangaroo to me:, d- u1 u; B4 L: }# V

Here is the real story:
The sculpture was done by an artest called Cezary Stulgis who studied in both the Brisbane University of Technology and Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts, Faculty of Sculpture, Krakow, Poland.os.tvboxnow.com. f; l3 O, E4 L6 i' F, o! e
The sculpture is actually a dog and the tree trunk in his backpack represents the last tree on earth, and there is a large square hole though the torso only visible from the front and back, containing a ball. The ball represents the life force or energy. 公仔箱論壇1 Z" @) F/ v# g2 c4 G* ?" N
This piece was commissioned by the owner of the apartment building behind it.
