挪威王國(Kingdom of Norway)，意謂歐洲大陸通往北方的必經之道。挪威的峽灣之多，也是世界奇觀，其中有一些峽灣裡的瀑布，高度甚至超出尼加拉瀑布四倍以上，成為挪威海岸獨樹一幟的特殊景觀。雖地處高緯，但因西風以及大西洋暖流經過，故沿海地區氣候溫和、雨量豐富， 沿岸海水不結冰。
