I tried mine with 89 & 93 octane...
to tell u the truth...I don't see any big difference...
But some oil company  said ur engine will be cleaner if u use higher octane gas.
Personally, I think 89 octane is good enough...
Just found this fm my honda's owner's manual
"Unleaded gasoline, pump octane # 86 or higher".
Y pay extra for premium gas??

但係我本toyota manual寫著係用87or higher,but我地建議用91

thank for the suggestion, so it won't damage the car if i use lower gasoline

係,不過我比較喜歡用91or higher

Octane no. suppose to tell how much power the gasoline will release when ignited.  It should additives that make the engine clearer (claim to be).

only use the fuel that your manual book suggest, if it said using 91, use 91, if it said anything lower, just use lower octane value fuel in it.

PUTTING anything higher won't give u any bigger performance difference and may damage the engine since the engine was design according to the fuel stated from the manual book!! (same for high performance car needing higher octane fuel and u put lower octane fuel in it, it might damage the engine and would run the same milage on more fuel), for ref on OCTANE values, pls see below link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating

=============Quote from Link above==========
A common misconception is that power output or fuel mileage can be improved by burning higher octane fuel than a particular engine was designed for. The power output of an engine depends in part on the energy density of its fuel, but similar fuels with different octane ratings have similar density. Since switching to a higher octane fuel does not add any more hydrocarbon content or oxygen, the engine cannot produce more power.
============ End Quote===========

AND for the ppl who thinks Premium gas = better gas, WRONG, "premium" is only the NAME of the gas, so does Midgrade and Regular, doesn't mean Midgrade is better than Regular and so-on so-forth, for ref, pls see below link
http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2003-07-30-premium-side_x.htm

And for why it is more expensive to use higher octane fuel? cos the fuel company wants u to think u r paying for "premium" gas, which is total bullshite!!

MDX compression ratio is 11.2:1, if owner manual said premium fuel required, you better use premium fuel if possible.  If you use regular fuel and your engine has problem, Acura will denial any warranty repair.

it'll be better if you use Higher Octane......Depends on the car
