首席調查主任江見秋外表冷漠、不苟言笑，但在一宗上市公司貪污案中，她以準母親的身份接近案中關鍵人物，成功找到破案的突破口。
總調查主任司徒啓文在廉署工作已超過二十年，對新入職的廉政人員十分關照。在調查維修招標案時，他帶著助理調查主任丁芯假裝成父女一起買樓，並在槍隊成員阿南及同為助理調查主任的鍾巧玲的幫助下，成功說服案中關鍵人物作為線人，蒐集有關涉事建築公司的罪證。
