車路士在官方網站上宣佈，他們已經正式簽下杜奧巴，雙方簽約1年。由於杜奧巴與加拉塔沙雷的合約在較早前已經完結，因此藍軍無需為是次轉會支付任何費用。
現年36歲的杜奧巴，早於2004年便加盟車路士，至2012年為球隊贏得歐聯冠軍後，他終於結束了自己的首段藍軍之旅，加盟中超球隊上海申花，並遇上欠薪事件。其後他投到加拉塔沙雷帳下，轉戰土超。
對於是次重簽杜奧巴，車路士領隊摩連奴表示：「杜奧巴回來了，因為他仍然是歐洲頂級前鋒。我們私底下關係很好，以我對他的了解，我知道他並非只剩下名氣的那種球員，他仍然有能力為藍軍帶來更多輝煌事蹟。」（Goal.com）

its a good transfer for chelsea, since the fans love him, he could not play for long, be substitution! and just played for the last 20minutes of game, increase the motivation for the team, come on chelsea
