【專輯介紹】：《美女与野兽 Beauty and the Beast》是迪斯尼历史上最美丽动人的爱情故事，创造了一个巅峰。由Alan Menken和Howard Ashman联手打造的配乐歌曲更是美不胜收。然而未满41岁的Howard Ashman死于1991年3月，那年夏天，未完成的《Beauty and the Beast》在纽约电影节上试映，观众长时间起立鼓掌。11月，《Beauty and the Beast》上映，比众人的预想更为成功，成为了第一部得到奥斯卡最佳影片提名的动画长片。
2001年为了纪念Howard Ashman，发行了10周年特别纪念版的《美女与野兽 Beauty and the Beast》，收录了之前没有发行的“Wolf Chase”、“Human Again”、“Death Of The Beast”等三首曲目，并特别加入了Howard和Alan在制作时所用的Demo和work tape，包含着两人声音的这些制作资料显得弥足珍贵。Howard Ashman是一名剧作家，是Alan Menken的好友，两人早在1979年就开始合作了。Howard第一次为迪斯尼写歌，是《奥丽华历险记 Oliver & Company》中的“Once Upon a Time in New York City”。最初Howard对与迪斯尼的合作还是有些犹豫的。尽管一直是迪斯尼迷，当时的Howard却不得不担心：迪斯尼对像他这样的同性恋者究竟能有多少宽容？那个时候迪斯尼正在为The Little Mermaid准备剧本，David Geffen对Jeffrey Katzenberg说，Howard Ashman是个天才。不久之后，导演Ron Clements和John Musker在纽约第一次见到了Howard Ashman。据二人的回忆，Howard对于把《海的女儿》搬上银幕很感兴趣，因为他非常喜欢安徒生。从此，Alan和Howard开始加入到The Little Mermaid的创作过程中。在The Little Mermaid之前，迪斯尼的传统动画已经有一段时间相当低迷。甚至1988年Michael Eisner曾在一次采访中对动画片做了相当悲观的预测。然而尽管此前许多人认为那些经典的童话已经不再适合电影院了，但The Little Mermaid在票房和口碑上都取得了相当大的成功。后来许多人说，The Little Mermaid标志着迪斯尼动画片的复兴的开始。
美丽的奥罗拉公主一出生就遭到与其父亲有仇的巫师莫拉发出的可怕的咒语，说在她十六岁生日当天将会被纺车的锭针扎死。后来虽然三位仙女极力帮忙，却仍然摆脱不了咒语的发生，奥罗拉公主因此长眠不醒。再后来，幸运的公主获得了亲情的眼泪、友情的抚慰和真爱之吻。不但打败巫师莫拉，还成功地破除了魔咒，解救了公主……
迪斯尼特邀当时极负盛名的女高音 Mary Costa，以其清亮悠扬的歌声帮女主角奥罗拉公主配唱。在本片的配乐方面，是由 George Bruns 负责全片的配乐，他有改编自柴可夫斯基的同名芭蕾舞曲【睡美人】中的旋律，并邀柏林交响乐团以精湛的技巧成就本片动听的配乐，精彩万分！！！本片是一部老少咸宜的合家欢式动画片，秉承了迪斯尼作品故事风趣幽默，富教育意义，情节精彩、内容丰富的特点。是小朋友们的好伙伴，是一部不可多得的卡通精品。
