阿森纳老板温格认为英格兰的未来依然一片光明，虽然他们未能晋级欧洲杯。

这是英格兰自从1994年以来第一次缺席重要的杯赛，他们曾缺席1994年美国的世界杯。

但是温格以他的祖国法国为例，他们也缺席了1994年世界杯，但是4年后就赢得了世界杯冠军。

“在1994年，法国也曾发生过，他们没能进入到世界杯，之后，他们在1998年赢得了世界杯。”他说。

“虽然这是一个巨大的失望，但是这里一直有着未来的希望，英格兰可以赢得下一届世界杯。”

“足球将继续，对我来说，这是这个国家最迷人之处。”

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger reckons the future of the England side can still be bright, despite failure to qualify for Euro 2008.

It is the first time England have missed out on the finals of a major tournament since 1994, when they were absent from the World Cup in America. But Wenger pointed to the experiences of his homeland France, who also missed the 1994 tournament but were crowned champions four years later. "It happened to France in 1994 - they did not go to the World Cup and then won the World Cup in 1998," he said. "Here even the day after a big disappointment, there is always hope for the future, that England can win the next competition. "Football will go on, that is for me the biggest charm in this country."
