美國伊利諾州北部的核電廠昨天早上10時多發生零件故障，導致一個反應爐停機，機組為減壓釋放蒸氣，廠方強調爐心壓力正常，而釋放的蒸氣則含有微量的氚（氫的放射性同位素），對職員及公眾無害。拜倫核電站（Byron）位於芝加哥西北約150公里。

It depends on how heavy the tritium steam has been released in the air. Tritium is radioactive and it is always combined with water molecules to form tritiated water which will release small amount of beta energy. I believe the half year of tritium is 12 - 13 years. Since tritium is ionizing radioactive, expose to it for a long time, it will enhance the chance to develop alternated cell development namely cancer. It is no good !
