      自出生起就被雙親遺棄的波特蘭少女Lux，在她16歲生日到來之際，終於結束了輾轉於各寄養家庭的生活。她找到了自己的生父Nate Bazile，並驚聞自己的生母是當地電台熱門節目的主持人Cate Cassidy。命運的安排使得三人又走到了一起，法官裁定Lux將交給Baze和Cate共同撫養，從而補償Lux從未得到過的家庭溫暖。

      回顧上一季故事的發展，女兒的到來給大家的生活帶來不小的震盪。 Baze經營著一家父親施捨的小酒吧，本身就像個沒有長大的孩子，自己的生活一團糟，但Lux的到來使30多歲的他對責任和未來有了重新的認識。另一方面，Cate和電台搭檔Ryan已經訂婚，但這對父女的出現給Cate的生活帶來了很大的衝擊，尤其是Baze和她似乎舊情復燃，這一切都直接影響到了Cate與Ryan的未來。儘管生活中波瀾不斷，Lux對於新家的不適應和對Cate的誤解，Cate在兩個男人之間的游離，Baze和他父親那解不開的結，但冥冥之中那血濃於水的親情正將三人聯繫得越來越緊密。

      在上一季末，Baze似乎逐漸理順了自己的生活，告別了不負責任的濫情，和父親冰釋前嫌，和Lux的男友Bug關係融洽。 Lux則向Ryan表達了她對於與Cate 和Baze在一起時的歸屬感的嚮往，Ryan表示理解。與此同時，Baze終於意識到了自己對Cate的感覺，決定勇於面對這份感情。然而Cate似乎已經大徹大悟，明白自己心之所屬，最終和Ryan走入了婚姻的殿堂。就在最後時刻，Baze破門而入，出現在教堂，但Cate依然堅定地吻向新郎Ryan，一切似乎已成定局…

      在新一季中，又會有什麼故事圍繞著這不尋常的一家人展開？ Cate和Baze的關係究竟會如何發展呢？ Lux和她的男友Bug的愛情到底能不能持久？當然還有Lux的朋友Natasha和Lux在學校的生活也將是一大看點，這些看似平凡的學校生活發生在Lux身上，又會和普通花季女孩有什麼不同呢？一切盡在9月15日回歸的《Life Unexpected》第二季，敬請期待為您精彩呈現。
