Endless imaginations here....many Malaysian conversations are this way..
Once someone from China asked if I got the 發票? I stared blank, I asked what is it in English. He said receipt.
Felt so stupid but funny...in Malaysian we said 收条。

Kiatling: That guy namewee has got himself so much trouble posting all these so call 'anti Malaysia government' rap. I do enjoyed it, especially the Muar 2. Dont understand why he opposed to KL area speaking Cantonese? Not fair, Cantonese people ofcourse speak Cantonese. What he expects?

I never heard about it....

A few jobs ago I used to work with an older lady from Malaysia who loved to speak Canto to me when she knew I could speak it (her family speaks Hokkien at home)
I didn't know then that in Malaysian Canto, 溝 = dollar = 元/蚊
and "lui" = money = 錢
So the first time the conversation got to money, she said something like (can't remember exactly): "而家出面啲野好貴,去飲餐茶都要成五十溝(AUD),你趁年輕要揾多啲lui啦"
Thanks for generalizing the dialects from Malaysian Chinese. It is very interesting. My Dad was born in Malaysia Malacca but my family does speak pretty traditional Mandarin. I agree to most of your illustration especially the one with Malayan mixed, but some of them sound like Cantonese instead of Mandarin ! Anyway, appreciate the effort !
。。。。。。。。。thank you very very much作者: aaqqaa01 時間: 2011-9-4 10:16 AM

Same language but with different mixture of local orientations. I guess this is another proof of adaptation and evolution ?!
But it sure is fun if you know one language and are in a different place to speak in same wordings and sentences but resulted in totally different meanings.
Better to learn from the local before expressing yourself !
