83歲的卡斯特羅突然在古巴國家電視台的電視訪談節目“圓桌會議”（Round Table）中現身，立即引發全球媒體的狂熱追逐。0 p# Z4 }, n: ?7 W) }9 _# r

他身穿藍色上衣，精神狀態顯得很不錯。他雖然在講話中語速很慢，但思路很清晰。他在節目中主要探討了當前的中東局勢，也討論了其他國際性話題。

卡斯特羅譴責美國把世界帶到核戰邊緣，他指出，是美國而不是朝鮮導致韓國天安艦沉沒，目的是在朝鮮半島地區挑起爭議。" y4 r# f8 b* j

他又指出，假如美國攻擊伊朗，結果會是災難性的。他說：“戰爭不能避免會變成核戰。”

卡斯特羅的這項舉動極不尋常。他在2006年7月因腸胃出血接受手術後，就把大部份權力移交給他的弟弟勞爾。他上次在電視中露面還是在2007年6月。

Castro's comment surely gives the impression that he is anachronistic. His assessment of global events stays at the Cold War period time frame. Given the stalemate of the US in Afghanistan and Iraq, the US is reluctant to start any new war. His view is perhaps much tainted by the Cuban Missile Crisis, that the US is still the most powerful hegemonic power. Castro may underestimate the economic power which is as formidable as military might.
